  The impact of evolving changing pattern in the character of stratum corneum, the sturdy skin barrier is highlighted, while taking stock of salient features of microanatomy and physiology. The role of cornified envelope, in particular, is vividly brought out as a vital pre-requisite to maintain and sustain the natural texture of stratum corneum. Thus the sequence of events leading to mobilization of filaggrin and valley of proteins to initiate and perpetuate the intricate mechanism in the natural history (evolution) of atopic dermatitis is focused attention to.
