Diabetes is a disease of failed glucose homeostasis. It requires life-long care. Diabetes was first recorded in a medical text written in english around 1425. Today, the number of patients in the U.S. with diabetes is ~34 million children and adults, and the number is still climbing, with a projected ~300 million worldwide in 2030.
