Background: Bovine cysticercosis is an infection of cattle caused by the larval stageof Cysticercus bovis, the human intestinal cestode. Aims: A cross sectional study was conducted from November 2015 to march 2016 with the objectives of determining the prevalence of bovinecysticercosis, cyst distribution in different organs and cyst viability in cattle slaughtered at Haramaya municipal abattoir. Materials and Methods: Random sampling technique was the sampling strategy used to collect all the necessary data from abattoir survey of the study animals. The sample size required for this study was determined based on the expected prevalence (50%) of C. bovis and the 5% desired absolute precision and 95% CI.
