Biography

Dr. Mulugeta Russom is a Pharmacist, Pharmacoepidemiologist and Pharmacovigilance specialist. He is currently working for the National Medicines and Food Administration of the Ministry of Health of Eritrea as head of the Eritrean Pharmacovigilance Centre. Mulugeta is a Pharmacovigilance consultant and has published over 40 scientific articles in peer-reviewed international journals and four books. He is an experienced medical writer, reviewer and associate editor in international journals.

    Background: Taking the overstretched healthcare system, inappropriate prescribing, self-medication seeking behavior, infiltration of substandard and counterfeit medicines in the resource-constrained countries into consideration, having a well-functioning Pharmacovigilance system has paramount importance to ensure patient safety.
