  Neonatal purpura fulminans is a rare life threatening condition caused by congenital or acquired causes. The condition is fatal so prompt diagnosis and management is important. It presents as acute disseminated intravascular coagulation and haemorrhagic skin necrosis and requires judicious use of anticoagulant therapy.
