Mother to Child Transmission is called vertical transmission or perinatal transmission. It occurs when HIV is transmitted from mother to child during pregnancy, labor and delivery. Many Infections can be transmitted from mother to child which include Congenital Infections, Perinatal and Postnatal. For a HIV woman, there will be a chance of spreading the disease from mother to child .A new drug was discovered which prevents the spread of disease from mother to child. Pregnant women safely use medicines during pregnancy for safe delivery of the child. HIV can be transmitted by breast feeding so the patients should not breast feed the patient.
