Thrombolysis is the lysis of blood clots in blood vessels preventing the damage to tissues and organs. Injecting of clot-busting drugs through an intravenous (IV) to directly to the site of the blockage is done in thrombolysis.
Thrombolysis is often used as an emergency treatment to dissolve blood clots in heart and in the arteries of the lungs.
