Some trials attract more members by paying for their participation. All clinical trials will provide the required medical care, lab tests and medication for free. Some trials, however, will pay thousands of dollars to attract members to higher risk or more inconvenient experiments. This case is more in the early stages of research when side effects might still be largely unknown or don’t have side-effect.
Some trials require members to remain in the facility conducting the research for the duration of the trial. The pay for participating in those will likely be more to compensate for the inconvenience.
