Ultrasound-guided orofacial harmonization procedures as a predictor of efficacy and safety

Abstract:

Orofacial harmonization consists in several procedures such as the application of botulinum toxin, fillers, and cytolytic enzymes in the submental region, Bichectomy and support threads. Most of them with non-significant adverse effects, but in some situations they may lead to necrosis of the treated regions worsening the aesthetic aspect. Ultrasound-guided procedures, where real-time images provide greater safety, performing practitioner and can perform the treatment with greater effectiveness and effectiveness. With the customization of the treatment the visualization of the tissue where the application of the product will be carried out, as in the case of botulinum toxin, enzymatic lipoplasty of gills and fillers, the depth of the needle will depend on anatomical aspects of the patient that often do not follow the conventional protocols indicated by manufacturer, allows a better safety in the application avoiding the injection in undesirable places with consequent reduction of the adverse effects, increasing greater efficacy and satisfaction of the patient. The perfect location of the bichat ball (buccal fat bag) and its complete ultrasonic guided removal allows less invasive surgery with more satisfactory aesthetic results in addition to a better postoperative. The introduction of the ultrasonic guided treads allows a safer procedure, less painful and with more satisfactory results. We will show ultrasonographic images of various procedures in orofacial harmonization, providing greater assertiveness of the anatomical spots of choice, minimizing adverse effects and providing greater patient satisfaction.

Biography :

Adriana do Paço Soares has completed his PhD in Sciences from Federal University of São Paulo in 2012, with a published article in The Cochrane Library: Botulinum toxin for myofascial pain syndromes in adults. She is one of the Founding Directors of the Minas Gerais Analgesia Association with honorable mention of Belo Horizonte City Council in 2005. She is the Coordinator and Ministrant of the qualification course in relative analgesia, temporo mandibular dysfunction and orofacial pain and of several courses within orofacial harmonization, including enzymatic lipoplasty of jowls, fillers, support threads and botulinum toxin. She is reviewer of several national and international scientific journals.
