Abstract:

The research reviewed the mental health of the elderly and its relationship with sociodemographic factors on COVID-19 in the Region of Tacna-Peru during the year 2022. A quantitative approach was considered, of a descriptive correlational type, a sample of 389 older adults of 60 years and over, for non-probabilistic convenience. The survey technique was used and as an instrument a questionnaire modified by the authors, research ethics; Authorization was obtained from people with informed consent, obtaining results such as; 56% are women, 85% are between 60 and 79 years old, 73% have between 1 and 5 children. Regarding educational level, 36% have secondary education, and 24% have higher education, 84% live in an urban area and 59% live with 3 or more people. In relation to the sociodemographic variables, it was found that women have a greater relationship with anxiety (p<0.01), and that people with fewer years of study have a greater relationship with depression (p<0.01) and the anxiety. Women are more related to anxiety and people with less education are more related to depression (p<0.01) and anxiety (p<0.05).
