Abstract:

Background: "Peace begins with a smile" - a profound statement by Mother Teresa that highlights the significance of smiling as a reflection of love and kindness. Smiling is a powerful tool that has the ability to uplift the mind, body, and soul. It serves as a symbol of self-beauty, appreciation for the surroundings, and the world at large. Additionally, smiling acts as a medicine that boosts our immunity and deceives the mind into believing that we truly love life. It is a game played by the muscles of our face, where the victory lies in spreading happiness and kindness, making it a true act of charity. Objectives: This study aims to explore the extent to which students prioritize wearing a smile and understand the influence of smiling on the psychological well-being of students. Methodology: A descriptive study was conducted using structured interviews as the primary data collection method. A total of 10 interviews were conducted with students from The University of Faisalabad (TUF). The interviews were recorded in Urdu, transcribed verbatim, and then translated into English for analysis. On average, each interview lasted approximately 2 minutes. The study was carried out within the Dermal Science Department of The University of Faisalabad. Results: The findings of this study revealed that students who smile more tend to have a positive perspective toward life. They also demonstrated a good academic record and possessed the ability to face adversities with faith and resilience. Furthermore, these students expressed a preference for positivity within their circle of influence, emphasizing the importance of spreading happiness and optimism. Conclusion: In conclusion, this study sheds light on the significance of smiling in the lives of students. It highlights the positive impact of smiling on one's overall well-being, including their mindset, academic performance, and ability to cope with challenges. The results emphasize the importance of prioritizing a smiling mindset and fostering a positive environment within educational institution.
