Abstract:

There is an undeniable need for global health practice to involve states and citizens on different levels of collaboration for health improvement and promotion. Old people in low and middle income countries suffer from poor social and health conditions; poverty crisis and widening health inequalities worsens these already dire circumstances. Analysis on the effectiveness of neoliberal activities spearheaded by high income western countries through transnational companies, organizations and government policies in influencing changes in economic structures of low and middle income countries was done. Poverty and the environment are chiefly important to the conditions of older people and the relevance of the roles of an effective state and active citizens in improving health conditions in the current social trend called globalization cannot be overemphasized.

Biography :

Candidus Chibuzor Nwakasi is currently a Masters Public Health Student at the University of Sunderland, United Kingdom with an ongoing research titled ?International Healthcare Assistants? Practice: Perceptions of Dementia?. As a biochemist, he has had the pleasure of working in a major brewing company in Nigeria before working with a public health center (National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Training Centre) and later with a pharmaceutical company all in Nigeria. His passion for public health motivated him to pursue a career in public health practice with the intention of becoming a health policy expert in the future. He is a member of European Society for Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases. He has keen interest in medical sociology and aging related studies.
