Abstract:

Covid pandemic has consumed more than 5 million people so far and the infection is still going on relentlessly throughout the World. There has been a lot of debate regarding underlying premorbid conditions that account for increased morbidity and mortality in patients who contract this infection. Out of many co-morbidities the one that has stood prominent from all the studies throughout the world was presence of OBESITY. Obesity risk was found as sinister as a combination of having underlying chronic lung condition and smoking. Obesity contributed to increase in morbidity & mortality in covid affected patients. The pathogenesis of such an interaction although seems difficult to explain, however, there are tempting mechanisms that could be the link between increased mortality in covid affected obese patients. This article shall explain this link in greater detail.
