Fractured mandible occurs due to many aetiological factors, including trafficaccidents, fall downs, gunshots, sports, pathological fractures and many other causes. The cause of fracture affects the type of injury seen in the mandible. Fractured mandibles have different treatment modalities depending of the severity of the trauma, anatomical location, type of fracture, presence of injuries elsewhere in the head and neck area. Availability of resources and skills are among other factors that determine treatment modalities. Fractures in infants and paediatric patients have their own treatment options that vary from adults due to age and biological causes. In the presentation, aetiology and classification of fractures with different treatment options will be presented both in adults and in growing children.
