Abstract:

BIOTECON Diagnostics GmbH located in Potsdam, Germany is one of the world?s leading company for rapid microbiological testing methods. BIOTECON Diagnostics focuses on development, and production of PCR-based rapid detection kits for food-borne pathogens, genetically modified organisms (GMOs), spoilage organisms and hygiene parameters. BIOTECON Diagnostics is glad to introduce the first fully-automated solution for routine food analysis by real-time PCR. BIOTECON Diagnostics in co-operation with an international confectionary manufacturer performed validation testing of the foodproof? RoboPrep+ Series robotic workstation, which is an automated system for DNA extraction and PCR setup. The robotic system for the automation of sample preparation and PCR setup has been specifically developed for laboratories with medium to high sample throughput. BIOTECON Diagnostics developed and validated the new foodproof? Magnetic Preparation Kit I on these instruments for automated isolation and purification of DNA from all kinds of food matrices. The time required to process 96 samples on the foodproof? RoboPrep+ Series robotic workstation at one time was 2 hr 20 min for DNA isolation and 20 min for real-time PCR setup for a total of only 2 hr and 40 min. Several approvals like AOAC and NordVal assure of high quality products from BIOTECON Diagnostics. foodproof? detection kits of BIOTECON Diagnostics are available for pathogens like Campylobacter, Escherichia coli O157, Enterobacteriaceae including E. sakazakii (Cronobacter spp.), Listeria genus, Listeria monocytogenes and Salmonella.
