Abstract:

Introduction: Although secondary headache is less common than primary types, it’s crucial to search for red flags in signs & symptoms .Both acute onset & chronic headache can be as simple as tension type headache or may be an alarm for a serious medical condition. Our aim in this case reports are to emphasize on red flags in headaches. Method: Retrospective chart review of secondary headache’s cases that were referred to Neurolgy service as cases of primary headache followed by a literature review. Results: In the study, total number of patients was ... with 40-70 years. The red flag symptoms were: new onset headache at age > 45 year, persistent on the same site & not responding to acute or prophylactic treatment. Diagnosis was confirmed with brain images: CTA, MRI & MRA, CSF analysis & serological tests. Treatment was initiated & all the patients currently in stable condition. Discussion: In this case reports it was found that red flags are almost similar to previously reported studies in literature. Conclusion: Early diagnosis leads to early treatment & avoid major complications.
