Abstract:

Friction stir additive manufacturing (FSAM) is an emerging additive manufacturing technology that uses solid-state friction stir processing to create multilayer components by layer-by-layer joining. The aluminium alloy (AA) 2219 developed by the FSAM technique is characterised in this study. It specifically assesses the "goodness" of asdeposited material formed by various process parameters for usage in specific conditions as a factor of microhardness and grain size measurements. It describes the optimum process parameters for AFS-D AA2219 and defines the local optimal as-deposited material based on the cyclic plastic response, monotonic tensile response, microhardness, grain size, and precipitate presence.
