Abstract:

The objective of this study was to identify resistance of quinolones antibiotics between bacteria isolated from burn unit in Al-Hussein Hospital at Thi-Qar for the period from 1st of November 2014 to the end of June 2015. Growth on blood agar, MacConkey agar and Nutrient agar was identified by cultural and biochemical tests and confirmed by API 20 E system: Out of 100 sample shown only 38 isolated bacteria which revealed that: 11/38 gave positive growth for Staphylococcus spp., 10/38 gave positive growth for Pseudomonas spp., 8/38 gave positive growth for Enterobacter spp., 6/38 gave positive growth for Serratia spp., 2/38 gave positive growth for Acinetobacter sp., 1/38 gave positive growth for Ochrobactrum sp. All the 38 isolates of bacteria were screened for their antibiotic resistance against 6 antibiotics of quinolones class using Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion method.
