Abstract:

What does it mean to lead ourselves in the ever changing environment of health care? How to continuously meet the high demands of our responsibilities without burning out? How do we effect positive change in health care by leading ourselves? Being mindful about how we can create balanced lives, and how we show up in our daily interactions enables us not only to serve others better (e.g., our patients), but also to create meaningful encounters for everyone involved. Reflecting on who we are, on our communication, and developing strong listening skills allows us to bring forth the adaptation we need in the changing world of health care. Nurses are the leaders of every day success in patients’ lives. Every step, every process, every outcome, and every kind word. It all matters. Developing holistic health care environments where no one is forgotten, where everyone is empowered, to speak up when needed, to be heard, when needed, to lead when needed. This talk will involve solutionfocused practical models for every day holistic and adaptive leadership.
