The study conducted on rabi season in 2011-12 for garlic production involving different methods and time of planting revealed that ridge bed method along with October planting time were the best compared to September and November time of planting. Among the methods of plantings, ridge bed method exhibited highest bulb yield (225.47 q /ha), followed by flat beds (210.39 q/ha). The garlic planted on October, 15 recorded highest bulb yield of 262.99q /ha followed by October, 1 (242.57 q/ha) across all planting times. The maximum dry matter content of leaf percentage (50.87%), dry matter content of bulb percentage (56.59%) and TSS of garlic (36.700Brix) was recorded under treatment ridge method of planting than flat methods and maximum dry matter content of leaf percentage, dry matter content of bulb percentage and TSS of garlic 54.13 %, 58.43 % and 37.000Brix respectively recorded under garlic planted on October, 15.With the very early and delay in planting yield was reduced, the appropriate time of planting is October, 15 for North Gujarat conditions. The lowest yield obtained from November, 15 time of planting.
