Drug delivery using microspheres has grown vastly in the past few decades. A major limitation of microspheres in extending the release of the encapsulated drug is their uptake by the mononuclear phagocyte system. This limits their circulation time and hence the therapeutic effectiveness of the encapsulated drug. The aim of the research was to develop long-circulating, PEGylated albumin microspheres as carriers for drugs. Our poster will present recent data on the use of PEGylated albumin microspheres for the enhanced delivery of drugs.
