This examines the efficiency of early intervention programs in preventing mental health issues in children, exploring their design, effectiveness, and challenges. Early intervention refers to the proactive approach of identifying and addressing signs of mental health issues in children before they escalate into more severe conditions. This approach is grounded in the understanding that early psychological and emotional disturbances can profoundly affect a child's cognitive, emotional, and social development. Early interventions aim to alter the trajectory of these potential issues, ultimately leading to better long-term outcomes.

Design and implementation of early intervention programs

Early intervention programs vary widely in their design and implementation, but they generally share common elements. These programs often include:

Screening and assessment: Early detection of mental health issues is essential.
