Biography

Yu Hong Wei is a Professor of Graduate School of Biotechnology and Bioengineering at Yuan Ze University in Taiwan. His contributions to the academia and bioindustry are numerous, including the fermentation processes development on biosufactants (such as surfactin), biopolymers (PHA) and biofuels (ethanol), and environmental engineering. He has authored more than 50 papers and book chapters and earned many awards and honors, including the Young Asian Biotechnologist Prize 2010, the Highest Research Performance Award in Yuan Ze University. The main contribution Dr. Wei made is in the application of molecular biology methods and biochemical engineering techniques to the production of many novel compounds. Some of these products are now developed by local industrial partners. He is also active in academia-industry collaboration and service works in our science community.
