Dr. Yoshiro Ohara graduated from Fukushima Medical University in 1975 and received an MD. He was trained in Clinical Neurology at Department of Neurology, Tohoku University (1975-1978). He received a PhD in Tohoku University in 1984. He worked as Research Associate (1984-1986) and Instructor (1986-1988) at Department of Neurology, University of Chicago. He served as Assistant Professor (1988-1990) and Associate Professor (1990-1994) at Department of Neurological Sciences, Tohoku University. He became Professor and Chairman, Department of Microbiology, Kanazawa Medical University School of Medicine in 1994. He served as Dean of Education (2004-2007) and Dean for School of Medicine (2007-2009). He is serving as a reviewer for Microbiology and Immunology, International Immunology and Brain & Nerve. He is also serving as a Member of the Board of Trustees for Japanese Society for Neuroimmunology and Japanese Society for Neuroinfectious Diseases.
