I obtained a Ph.D. in Animal Physiology from Nagoya University, Japan. After I received a Ph.D, I joined to the lab of Dr. Sylvia B. Smith in Georgia Regents University for my first postdoctoral training. During my postdoctoral training with her, I studied the mechanism of neuronal protection in the diabetic retina. Currently, I am working as a postdoctoral fellow in the lab of Dr. Wenbo Zhang at the University of Texas Medical Branch, and I have focused to study of mechanism of neuronal injury in the retinal diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, ischemic retinopathy and glaucoma.
