Biography

Dr. Wen-Hsing Cheng is an assistant professor of nutrigenomics in the Department of Nutrition and Food Science at the University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP). His research focuses on molecular events that lead to aging, cancer and genome instability syndrome. He investigates the molecular mechanisms of selenium and the DNA damage response on genomic stability by employing molecular biology, cytogenetics, and mouse-based models. Prior to joining UMCP in 2007, Dr. Cheng was a postdoctoral fellow and then a research fellow at the National Institute on Aging, NIH from 2001-2007. He received a B.S. degree from National Taiwan University, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Cornell University. Dr. Cheng has received significant research awards from Cornell, NIH, and UMCP.
