Biography

Weiming Xu is a Senior Research Associate in the Department of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, University of Sheffield, UK. He obtained his PhD degree in Molecular Biology from the Imperial Cancer Research Fund/Chinese Academy of Sciences program in London. His first postdoctoral training was with Sir Bruce Ponder at Department of Pathology, University of Cambridge on tumor suppressor. He then worked in Babraham Institute and later has taken the Senior Research Fellow position in the University College London, working on nitric oxide signaling with Sir Salvador Moncada. From 2009, he moved to the University of Sheffield as Senior Research Associate and is concentrating his work on developing new screening strategies for isolating membrane-targeting antibody fragments against solid tumors. He has developed novel antibody fragment screening program and isolated small molecules against cancer and cardiovascular diseases. He has published more than 50 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals with over 1,200 citations(ISI) and obtained some prestigious industry research supports such as the research grant from the Bayer Healthcare for his antibody work.
