YI, Wei. MD, PhD is currently a cardiovascular surgeon and associated professor at the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery, Xijing Hospital, the Fourth Military Medical University, Xi’an, China. He received his MD & PhD degree at the Fourth Military Medical University, Xi’an, China. His focuses on totally thoracoscopic and robotic cardiac surgery and performs over 350 cases of open-heart surgery per year. And he was also trained for cardiovascular translational medicine at Thomas Jefferson University, PA, USA (2009-2011). He demonstrated the cardiac adiponectin resistance in Type 2 diabetes mellitus and explored the cardiovascular biological function of CTRPs’ family. Now he is the leader of cardiovascular research group in Dept. Cardiovascular Surgery, Xijing Hospital, and participates in research at cardiovascular protection of adipokines. For the excellent research work, he was awarded the best research award (Earl Bakken Prize) by Chinese Society for Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery.
