The long-term interest of her lab is to understand how the initiation of DNA replication is coordinated with chromatin organization and cell cycle progression in mammalian cells. Initiation of DNA replication requires the assembly of a multi-protein pre-replicative
complex at the origins of replication. Binding of Origin Recognition Complex proteins to origins leads to the sequential binding of several other proteins that together establish the pre-RC. They have identified a novel ORC-associated (ORCA/LRWD1) protein that is
required for stabilizing ORC binding to chromatin. Her lab focuses on studying how Origin Recognition Complex (ORC) and ORC-associated (ORCA/LRWD1) regulate DNA replication and heterochromatin organization."
