Biography

I have completed my M.Sc.in Marine Biology and Oceanography from Centre of Advance Study in Marine Biology,Annamalai University, India and subsequently worked for a brief period in shrimp feed company and sea food
processingcompany as Microbiologist. Later, in 2000, I have joined in Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (ICAR), one of the pioneer institutes in marine fisheries to pursue Ph.D. After completion of Ph.D., I was awarded Japan Government Fellowship and spend three and half years in Osaka Prefecture University, where I was later awarded 2nd Ph.D. degree in the field of marine/environmental Biotechnology. In 2008, I returned back to India and joined Central Salt and Marine Chemicals Research Institute (CSIR) as Scientist (Fellow) in Marine Environmentgroup.At present I am working as Scientist E1 (Senior Scientist) in the same institute

Research Interest

Study the diversity of environmental bacteria especially vibrios in coastal and marine environment.
Study the interaction between coral and associated bacteria.
Develop rapid and accurate method to identify ecologically/clinically important bacteria.
Study the disease causing mechanism of bacteria to aquatic organisms and their possible prophylactic methods.
