Sonika Patial, DVM, Ph.D., is currently working as a postdoctoral research fellow at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS). Her research efforts are particularly directed towards understanding the role of RNA binding proteins in modulating inflammation and immunity. She exploring the novel roles of an anti-inflammatory RNA binding protein tristetraprolin (TTP) in mouse models of inflammation. She have generated several knockout and transgenic mouse lines for TTP as well as its family members in particular, zfp36l1 and zfp36l2. The purpose of generating these mouse lines is to explore the roles of these proteins in specific tissues/cell types such as hepatocytes.
