Shan Yuan is the Assistant Medical Director of Transfusion Medicine, at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. She is also an Assistant Professor of Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Prior to joining UCLA, she was a physician at the City of Hope National Medical Center in Duarte, CA. She received fellowship training in transfusion medicine and blood banking at the Puget Sound Blood Center in Seattle, WA (2004-2005) she completed her training in clinical pathology at the University of Washington Medical Centre, in Seattle WA (2000-2004) and served as the Chief Resident. She received her M.D. degree from Duke University School of Medicine (1996-2000). She completed her B.A. in biology at Oberlin College, Oberlin, OH (1992-2000). She has received the Paul E. Strandjord Young Investigator Award twice from the Academy of Clinical Physicians and Scientists and the Strandjord-Clayson Research Award from the University of Washington Medical Centre. She has also served as the reviewer for a number of journals.
