Runjan Chetty

Born in 1957, Dr. Runjan Chetty did his school education from Dublin (Ireland), London (United Kingdom) and Durban (South Africa). His medical education was at the Royal College of Surgeons, in Ireland, from October 1976 to June 1982. Dr. Chetty excelled in his studies and was the winner of the Arthur Jacobs Open Scholarship, Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland, and achieved honours in Biology, Physics, Pathology, Microbiology, Ophthalmology, Psychiatry, Forensic Medicine, and the first prize and medal in Social & Preventive Medicine.
Molecular aspects of colorectal cancer (PS3, APC genes, microarray project comparing protein expression in primary and secondary tumours), molecular aspects of intraductal papillary mucinous tumours of the pancreas, pancreatic endocrine tumours in addition to on-going research from South Africa on oesophageal squamous carcinoma (cell cycle proteins adhesion molecules and DNA repair genes).
