Biography

Rosemarie Chinni earned her Ph.D. in the area of Analytical Chemistry from the University of South Carolina in 2002. She joined Alvernia in August of 2004 as an Assistant Professor of Chemistry/Forensic Science, receiving tenure and promotion to Associate Professor in December of 2009. Her main teaching load includes analytical chemistry, instrumental analysis, physical chemistry I & II, physical science, and fundamentals of chemistry. She has extensive research experience using various molecular and atomic spectroscopies and also using separation techniques of gas chromatography and high pressure liquid chromatography. Dr. Chinni currently focuses on using laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) for various research studies including showing its applicability to undergraduate education. She has served as a consultant for Applied Research Associates in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where field portable LIBS instrumentation is being designed for various applications.
