Robert W Sobol Jr. is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacology Chemical Biology and the Department of Human Genetics at the University of Pittsburgh. He is a scientific member of both the Molecular and Cellular Biology Program and the Brain Tumor Program at the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute UPCI Dr Sobol is the Director of the UPCI Lentiviral Facility and co-Director of the UPCI Vector Core Facility. He received a PhD in Biochemistry from Temple University School of Medicine Philadelphia PA in 1991. He completed a BS in Chemistry from Allegheny College Meadville PA in 1982 Dr Sobol was awarded the Seth Harris Feldman Chair of Research in 2007 and in 2008 he was been appointed as a Hillman Fellow for Innovative Cancer Research, in 2010 for basic research on DNA Repair as potential therapeutic targets in brain cancer.
