Dr Richard Njouom is a Senior Researcher and currently the Head of Virology Unit at the Centre Pasteur of Cameroon and Head of the National Influenza Centre of Cameroon. He has obtained his PhD in Virology at the University of Toulouse III in France in 2003. . Dr Njouom has published more than 40 international papers on hepatitis B, C and delta viruses in Central Africa and also on influenza and other respiratory viruses in Cameroon. Dr Njouom was involved in the confirmation of the first cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 virus in Cameroon in 2006 and the establishment of the National Influenza Centre in Cameroon in 2009. From September to November 2009, Dr Njouom was a Temporary consultant of WHO AFRO for pandemic influenza A/H1N1/2009 in Djamena, Chad and in Sao Tome and Principe.
Dr Richard Njouom Research interests include molecular epidemiology of hepatitis and respiratory viruses.
