Professor Slaughter received his B.S. Degree in Pharmacy from the University of Cincinnati in 1975 and completed the M.Sc. and residency program in Hospital Pharmacy from The Ohio State University in 1977. He started his academic career in a position at the University of Buffalo developing one of the first applied clinical pharmacokinetic services in the country at the Buffalo General Hospital. In 1989 he assumed the position as Chair in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (EACPHS), Wayne State University. He was the Assistant Dean for Assessment and Accreditation at EACPHS from 2002 to 2009. Since 2009 he has been the Associate Dean for the Pharmacy Program at EACPHS. He has over 100 peer reviewed publications and abstracts published in areas related to pharmacokinetics, pharmacotherapeutics, evaluation of clinical pharmacy services and academic assessment. His work has over 1,000 citations. He has served on the Editorial Board of the Annals of Pharmacotherapy as Chair of the Therapeutic Drug Monitoring panel form 2003 through 2011. He is a current member of the editorial board of Expert Reviews in Clinical Pharmacology. He has active international collaborations in both Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and Cape Town South Africa.
