Dr. Sharma is currently an Assistant Professor in Department of Medicine at University of Louisville,Louisville, Kentucky, USA.He completed his Ph.D. in the area of infectious immunology at Banaras Hindu University in India. Dr. Sharma then moved to USA to pursue his postdoctoral studies in the area of therapeutic cancer vaccines at the Institute for Cellular Therapeutics, Department of Microbiology & Immunology at University of Louisville. Dr. Sharma serves as reviewer for various journals. His research interests are in the area of cancer vaccines, cancer immunotherapies, particularly development of combinatorial therapeutic approaches such as chemo-immunotherapy, and defining biomarkers for early detection of various cancer types. Dr. Sharma is also involved in understanding the role of chemokine and its receptors in cancer-immune interplay and if these chemokine networks could be exploited to enhance the therapeutic efficacy of immunotherapies such as cancer vaccines.
