Biography

Dr. Rajat Mazumder is an Associate Professor, Geological Studies Unit, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata India. Currently, I am a Post Doctoral Research Associate in the School of Biology, Earth and Environmental Sciences, University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia.He taught both undergraduate and graduate students. I like teaching geology to the undergraduate students, particularly, to the beginners, even to high school students. To me, teaching geology is challenging and fun! I highlight the connecting links between various disciplines of geology and integrate available information to get a comprehensive picture of earth evolutionary history.

Research Interest

(i) Inter-continental correlation of the late Archaean-Paleoproterozoic volcano-sedimentary successions of India, South Africa and Australia (ii) Provenance, contemporary basin tectonics, paleoclimate and paleoweathering characteristics of the late Paleoproterozoic Dhalbhum, Dalma and Chandil Formations eastern India (iii) Sedimentology of Mio-Pliocene Misaki Formation, Miura Peninsula, Japan.
