Dr. Gowda’s research is focused on malignant melanoma, one of the most deadly form of skin cancer due to its high metastatic potential and rapid development of resistance to drugs targeting single protein. Although encouraging recent studies showed promising results with V600EB-Raf kinase inhibitor, development of drug resistance remains a problem. The main goal of my research is to understanding the biology and signaling pathways involved in melanoma tumor progression in order to develop next generation of therapeutic agents to treat this disease. Specially, it involves target identification and validation, discovery and development of new therapeutic agents, design and validation of nanotechnologies for drug delivery and clinical evaluation of these agents in patients.
