Biography

Dr. Pan is currently a principal investigator of viral hepatitis & associated liver cancer research at the Laboratory of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Erasmus University Medical Center Rotterdam, The Netherlands. After completion of a Master degree on biotherapy of liver cancer at Zhejiang Sci-Tech University in China, he moved to Erasmus MC Rotterdam to peruse PhD research on hepatitis C virus. After dissertation of his PhD thesis in February 2012, he has continued his previous research at the same laboratory and has successfully extended his expertise to hepatitis E virus infection as well as liver cancer. With a group of recently recruited PhD students, he is now embarking on innovative translational research of understanding virus-host interaction of hepatitis viruses andthe mechanism of how hepatitis viruses causing liver carcinogenesis.
