Biography

Dr Xu is an associate professor in Mechanical Engineering with the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Tsinghua University, China. He got his B. S., M. S. and Ph. D. degree from Harbin Institute of Technology in the field of Materials Processing Engineering (foundry specialty) in 1998, 1995 and 1992 respectively. After that, he moved to Tsinghua University as a post-doctoral research fellow in Mechanical Engineering. In 2000, he joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Tsinghua University and became a faculty.His current research is interdisciplinary and focuses on a wide range of topics within the field of mechanical engineering, manufacturing process, materials engineering and computational materials science. He is an author/co-author of over 100 peer-reviewed journal/conference papers, 4 edited books. He is acting as a reviewer for many top rated journals in Mechanical Engineering and Materials Processing Engineering and as an expert in material science for the European Commission in FP7.
