Pierre Olivier LANG is senior lecturer (PD) at the Medical school and University hospitals of Geneva (Switzerland). Specialist in public health (MD, MPH, PhD), internal medicine (MD) and geriatric medicine (MD), he has a longstanding interest for old adult prevention and more recently in immunology of ageing and its implication on the prevention of infectious disease by vaccination. Since October 2009, he works also as visiting research at Cranfield University (UK) within the Translational Medicine research Group where his topic of interest is the implication of the thymic involution on the immunosenescence process and the response to vaccination.
He is author of numerous publications concerning the field of vaccination: shingles, seasonal influenza, pneumococcal diseases, the interest to consider vaccination in old adult population, the promotion of life-course vaccine schedules and the impact of herd immunity.
