General and Interventional Cardiology
University College London Hospitals, UK
I am an academic interventional Cardiologist, trained in Switzerland (University Hospital Bern) and in the United States (University of Michigan Medical Center) and now working at the University College London Hospitals UCLH in London as a consultant cardiologist. I am experienced in all aspects of adult cardiology and have a main focus on percutaneous coronary interventions, including rotational atherectomy, physiological measurements (FFR), intravascular ultrasound (IVUS), chronic total occlusions, alcohol septal ablation, etc. I am part of our structural intervention team performing key whole aortic valve replacements (TAVI), closure of wholes in the heart (PFO, ASD), mitral valve clipping and we are also evaluating new procedures such as the PARACHUTE procedure for patients with heart failure after a heart attack.
My research interests are new technologies in interventional Cardiology such as stents and new drugs. Further research interests include sudden cardiac death and the coronary collateral circulation (therapeutic induction of new vessels in the heart). I have a particular interest in biostatistics (postgraduate degree in Statistics, University of Bern, Switzerland), in meta-analyses, outcomes research and in randomised clinical trials
