Dr. Norata got a master degree in Pharmacy in 1996 at the University of Milan, next got a PhD in Experimental Medicine at the University of Siena followed by the attendance of the Specialization School of Pharmacology, University of Milan. In 2003 got a degree in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, University of Milan. From 2002 to 2004 Dr. Norata worked at the Center for the Study of Atherosclerosis, Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. From 2005 up to date he is responsible of the Laboratory of Molecular Genetics and Cardiovascular Genomics at the Center for the Study of Atherosclerosis, SISA Lombardia Chapter, Bassini Hospital, Cinisello Balsamo, Italy. Since December 2008 he is Assistant Professor of Pharmacology at the Department of Pharmacological Sciences, University of Milan where he teaches disciplines related to pharmacology. In 2012 Dr. Norata got the position of Honorary Senior Lecturer at The Blizard Institute, Barts and The London School of Medicine & Dentistry Queen Mary University, London, UK. Dr. Norata has a wide expertise in the study of molecular mechanisms involved in vascular and cardiometabolic diseases and has published more than 70 papers in this area.
The recent activity deals with the study of new mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis and potential targets modulated by lipoproteins. Dr. Norata has characterized the role of key players of the innate and adaptive immune response in atherosclerosis including the long pentraxin 3 and T cells subsets
