Dr. Zayed earned a bachelor of science (BS) degree in Biology at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill (UNC-CH). As part of the NIH-sponsored Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) he earned his medical degree (MD) and doctorate (PhD) in pharmacology at UNC-CH. He subsequently completed an ACGME-accredited vascular surgery residency at Stanford University, and served as co-founded and chief medical officer (CMO) of a medical software company. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine, and a Staff Physician in the Veterans Affairs St. Louis Health Care System. He is a board certified vascular surgeon and practices general vascular surgery with a focus on peripheral arterial occlusive disease. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), the 2015 Vascular Cures Wylie Scholar, and the 2017 American Surgical Association Foundation Research Fellow
