Miao He
Associate Professor, School of Life Sciences
Sun Yat-sen University, China
He has been conducting research and development in bioinformatics and computational biology since 2000. Now, he leads a lab of bioinformatics to process and study the "human disease related protein interactome" in School of Life Sciences, Sun Yat-sen University. He was a Research Associate in 2002-3, a Project Associate in 2008-9 at Department of Building Services Engineering of the Polytechnic University of Hong Kong, where he developed mathematics models to simulate dynamics of indoor microbial.
The main academic contributions of Miao He are using the approach of systems biology to explore the molecular mechanisms of lung cancer, using the statistical method to analyze the genetic relationships among the different ethnic groups based on the data of STRs (short tandem repeat), and using the statistical method to analyze the epidemiological data et al.
Miao He is passionate about innovating collaborative interdisciplinary research that has high-impact potentials. Besides conducting research, he denotes time to several community-based non-profit professional organizations.
•Computational Systems Biology, especially knowledge discovery in functional genomics, proteomics.
•High-performance database computing and scientific data mining.
•Biostatistics, mainly including the application in epidemiological studies.
