Dr. Mark Stein is a clinical psychologist researcher Professor and Director of the ADHD Clinical Research Program Mark Stein directs the Child and Adult ADHD Clinics and ADHD Clinical Research at the Institute of Juvenile Research at University of Illinois at Chicago where he is a Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Pediatrics. Previously he was Chair of Psychology at Childrens National Medical Center and Professor of Psychiatry at The University of Chicago. Dr. Stein completed his internship in Child Clinical Psychology at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute and received his PhD in 1982 from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale for over 25 years. Dr. Stein had been an active clinical researcher studying ADHD treatments in children adolescents and adults effects of thyroid abnormalities genetics sleep problems and ADHD and most recently pharmacogenetics of ADHD. He is the author of more than 100 articles abstracts and book chapters and has co edited a text book on ADHD. He is currently conducting a NIH supported pharmacogenetic study of ADHD comparing stimulant and nonstimulant medications. Dr. Stein is a member of many professional organizations including the Society for Behavioral Pediatrics the Society for Pediatric Research American Society of Human Genetics and he is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association’s Division of Clinical Psychology.
