Biography

Dr. Manzanera is the Principal Investigator of the Microbial Biofuel Group in the Institute of Water Research IWR Granada University Spain He earned a PhD in Environmental Microbiology from Spanish Higher Research Council CSIC at the Department of Environmental Protection awarded as best thesis in year 2000 by Univ of Granada He worked at Cambridge University as Postdoctoral Research Associate for five years at the Institute of Biotechnology Genetics Department and Department of Chemistry Currently he is commissioner for economics affairs and commissioner for the quality at the IWR He has published more than 25 research papers and five review papers on top impact factor journals in microbiology and he was author of five book chapters He served as a reviewer of peerreviewed journals in the area of Environmental Microbiology and is fellow of the Spanish Society of Microbiology the Spanish Society of Biotechnology and the American Society of Microbiology

Research Interest

His area of specialty is environmental microbiology, especially as it relates to oil bioremediation, water quality and bioenergy.
