Dr. Pulakat received her Ph.D. from Department of Biochemistry, University of Melbourne, Melbourne, Australia in 1989. Her Post-doctoral training was at University of California at Irvine. She then served as Assistant, Associate and Full professor at the Department of Biological Sciences, Bowling Green State University, Ohio. In 2005 she moved to Department of Biological Sciences at Mississippi State University and in 2009 she joined Department of Internal Medicine at University of Missouri, Columbia. She is the Associate Director of Research for the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism and holds joint appointment in Department of Internal medicine and Department of Nutrition and Exercise Physiology at the School of Medicine, Mizzou . She has over150 publications, presentations and she serves as a member for American Heart Association Molecular Signaling Peer Review committee and Veterans Affairs Endocrinology-A Merit Review Committee. She is a member of several professional associations including American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association and American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and serves as a reviewer for Diabetes and editorial board member for CardioRenal Medicine.
